Excellent breakfast menu and outstanding service. Located by Stratford Westfield shopping centre (just outside near the bridge ) where there are not many good places to eat other than standard chain restaurants. Balans opens at 7.30am for breakfast from this week so it's also one of the few places open this early. Breakfast time has a quiet atmosphere. Relaxed but smart. Highly recommend.
I had a good experience here. The restaurant is quite small, but sits about 30 to 40 people comfortably. The menu is unusual as it doesn't include a formal starter, main, and dessert, but a combination and assortment of dishes that one can choose from. I went with a group for a birthday meal, and I must say that the food was delicious. I ordered chickpeas with halloumi and pitta bread. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a filling meal at an affordable price.
Breakfast was nice but pricey. 11 for a full English. It might be the nicest full English I've had though. Other downside is that I finished it. I feel like if I pay 11 for breakfast it should be too much to finish. Yeah, classic case of 1st world problems, I know. But I don't care! Decor was nice and staff were friendly too. I'd gladly eat there again. Only if it was half the price
The food was excellent; I got the steak and eggs for a breakfast offering. The steak was a perfect medium rare as requested and well seasoned. Portion was a reasonable size, though a little smaller than some as they did not add much to the side. Service, on the other-hand, was not good: I had to wait about 10 minutes after my waiter cleared my table to get me the bill, and once he brought it, it took another 5 to come back and scan my card. To top it off, he did not refill my water despite it being empty from the time I got my food until the time I left.
Great, friendly and attentive service. Thankfully, the food more than matched up to the service. My Cobb salad was crisp, fresh and very tasty with hits of hit salty bacon and Chicken and blue cheese, accompanied with a wonderful cocktail and a chocolate & cherry dessert to share. It was all very yummy. This place has always been great to come to.
